Hyong Part I

Hyong History

Hyong literally means “Form”.

Hyong was created and developed by East Coast Tae Kwon Do founder Mr. Steward Allen. Mr. Allen created this form to be performed by the beginner practitioner of ECTKD.
The form, the longest of all our forms, includes most of the basics including several kicks, blocks, and strikes. Hyong can be viewed as “the form of three”. Three seems to be the foundation of moves through the form and can be viewed as containing three parts. Part one consists of three basic techniques going in each direction. Part two contains three moves in each direction and the last part can be viewed as part three. I do not believe this was designed for these reasons but can be helpful in learning this difficult form.
